In/Out HDR

At the moment all I seem to do is take photos of my walk home….this is the NCP carpark near The Arches.

I like the fact that it’s two different carparks - both exits.

photomatix and photoshop are the tools.

Church HDR

•August 19, 2008 • No Comments

‘Church’ is the result of a HDR tutorial I found on flickr using Photomatix and finishing it of with a Photoshop gradient.

I didn’t take the photo although photo taking was not the purpose of this tutorial. I’m happy with the result but I want to apply this to my own photos.

HDR First Attempt

So here it is, my first attempt at creating a HDR image using Photomatix.

I thought I would start off by giving the software a challenge: Make Kinning Park look nice.

Award for Camelot Poster Campaign

Camelot Lottery.

Brief: Create a poster campaign to get 18-25 y/o playing the lottery.

Award: YCN Commendation.

In response to the Camelot brief my posters were intended to get the viewer to visualise a better life and spark their imagination. I used words rather than images because everyone’s idea of the perfect life is different.

Being a student is always tough financially which is why ‘Who Needs A Student Loan?’ and ‘Chat Up Line’ was aimed at getting students playing the lottery by encouraging them to visualise a life as a care free millionaire student.

‘Day In Day Out’ is aimed at young workers who are tired of the monotony in their lives. ‘Day In Day Out’ is intended to show the viewer how easy it is for their life to change if they play the lottery.

It’s a small world.

Photoshop is great………by doing a few simple actions I’ve been able to create the illusion of a miniature village.

Evolution : After Effects

•August 7, 2008 • 1 Comment

This is my first attempt at creating an animation using a new piece of software called ‘Evolution’

Although it’s only 5 seconds long there is alot going on.

The back wall has had a gradient and colour placed on top of it.

Each arrow is time animated, rotated, embossed and with a glow added.

Text is faded out, embossed and changed on its z axis.

now there’s nothing I’ve said that isn’t to difficult to do but the most exiting part of this clip is the camera movement.

The setting options are so realistic that I might as well have been using a real camera.

This software has so much potential, I can’t wait to do a more complicated animation.

Plain Speaking: TRAMWAY

This poster was created to promote a theatre show in Glasgow.

I don’t really have much to say about it. The title made me think of someone on a pedestal so that’s what I did. I like the simplicity of it.

Radisson SAS Poster Design

•August 6, 2008 • No Comments

Radisson SAS have commissioned me to design posters for their award winning bar Collage Bar.

The thinking behind the collection was quite simple; I got inspiration for the layout from a modernist poster and each texture represents the different themes that I think Collage Bar embodies, urban, classy & stylish.

Fairtrade Campaign

•August 6, 2008 • No Comments

This campaign was created to get people in the UK thinking about where their tea comes from and who produces it. The posters are not intended to promote any particular product, although the focus is on the tea farmers, instead its aim is to promote Fairtrade as way of life and to do good in the world.

Each poster is intended to portray the positive effect Fairtrade is having on the world.
